In a word, yes. In more words, the media and society are extraordinarily powerful. There's been a youth vs old boomer dynamic for decades now. We're seeing the effects of that, plus stuff like videogames and anime becoming memed as adult hobbies, which, with adult themed games was inevitable at some point. It's also a generation fed memes about miserable depressed adults in loveless marriages and losing the kid inside themselves (you've seen this in countless movies). It's loads of things.

There isn't a catch/reason to being a man anymore. Women ape men on basically every positive statistic in the workforce (until you get to shoot million/billionaires) while more men are growing up without a father every generation.
Being a "real man!!" no longer carries any advantages, if anything society actively rejects it. I genuinely think within the next 2 generations women and men will have swapped societal roles where men are essentially just children who impregnate women and carry out manual labor

1. they're decorations from the things you like
2. organizing a shelf of figures, posing them, displaying them in the best way, etc. is enjoyable
3. looking at your display brings you joy and reminds you of your favorite things
4. disposable income being spent on relatively permanent things that make you happy is good
5. the simple act of seeing something you want, hunting for it, and finally finding it for a regular price is enjoyable in itself

people i work with spend hundreds of dollars every month on weed alone, collecting toys is a much better use of money than all kinds of other retarded shit

i'm in the same age bracket as the wrestlers who collect toys and games. we grew up when this shit was at its peak. cartoons were good, toys were being made for all of the shows we watched on TV every week, and the figures were pretty decent quality compared to the shit boomers had. we still had giant toy stores like toys r us and FAO schwartz too, that were loaded with all this shit because kids still bought toys and watched TV back then - we didn't have internet, cell phones, and tiktoks to numb our brains in between school.

now that we're in our 30s, we have jobs and disposable income to spend on the stuff we're nostalgic for. whether that's collecting all of the old stuff we wanted (or used to have), buying new stuff, or both. plus, nowadays, kids are buying less toys, so toy manufacturers are aiming more and more towards adult collectors with high quality molds, detailed paint jobs, more articulation and swappable parts for posing, and shit like that. we can get shit from the properties we grew up with that's way better than what we used to have.
