>>11689593I actually think Cody DID get over towards Mania. At least by that night, he was the most over guy they had and people wanted to see the change.
>>11689595I thought the same thing last year, when he first came back. I know Cody's limitations but getting hurt saved his ass. The Sami stuff, got Roman more over and also Cody. Everything aligned for them at that moment. Cody was the hottest guy on that weekend. Now the Bloodline is nowhere near as hot. Cody isn't as hot as he was that night. I'm certain, he'll get a pop for the win, but people are just going to say, "He should've won it last year". Roman didn't need the belt to do the Bloodline split. Roman doesn't need the belt at all. Cody can at least do something with it considering he's there.
Now, both of them are treading water. They don't have anything to do because they wanted to wait a year to do a finish they could've done this year. Cody just beat Brock, who the fuck is on his level at this point? Everything other than Roman feels less. Roman, had the split and is barely there. He might feud with fucking AJ-- who no offense, is on his Nakamura steeze right now and going through motions.
Then, you have guys like Knight getting over. I almost think they should just book Roman vs Knight at this point and have it act similar to Sami vs Roman, where it helps build up the Cody rematch.
>>11689658Cody is far better than Seth. Seth, I agree. But, I think Cody has the ability to tap in, the thing is that he gets indulgent. That's WHY I felt like they should do it early and get it out of the way rather than leave him a purgatory-- where his worst instances start to show up. This is why he failed at AEW. He wrote himself off the title, then had nothing to do and started getting self-indulgent to make up for the fact that he'll never be a top guy.
