Raven's gimmick wasn't "grunge", he just wore grunge T's, grunge as a gimmick would only get you as far as Rad Radford. His gimmick was being a loveless abused kid who took out his frustrations on everyone close to him while justifying all his actions as deserved revenge as he built up a cult of people that thought the same and did his bidding. So 'school shooter' is along the right lines and it worked for the culture of the time.
