>>11713355I was a little jimmy back during that area so I may be looking at it with nostalgia goggles but it was still my fave era. It felt they finally got over the low-brow shock TV of the attitude era and started putting on some more higher quality stuff.
I preferred Smackdown to Raw not just because it felt like the contrarian, underdog show tow hat the normies like but I believed it did almost everything better than Raw especially the singles and tag divisions and had the cruiserweights which were cool.
I think all Raw had going for it over Smackdown was a better womens division and the hardcore division was fun. Evolution was cool at first but got old a couple of months into it, kind of like the Bloodline right now, just the same thing on repeat.
I also remember there being a mini-boom in popularity with WWE, especially with kids around 2006 - 2008. That was around the time they started to really push Cena as a top guy, Legend Killer Orton, DX reunion, Jeff Hardy returned etc. A lot more kids at school were wearing WWE merch and stuff. I think Raw was really good in 06, 07 Smackdown was good and 08 was meh overall thats when it turned PG and it was REALLY sanitized that year. I still remember Cena writing "JBL is poopy" with Crime TIme
