Also, MMA kicked Wrestling's ass in Japan even worse than it did in America. That time when UFC was destroying WWE in the 2000s was times 100 in Japan.
If anything, it's impressive that a fake sport that they imported from America is as popular as it is, while having way less of an history than it does in America. Goes to show what Rikidōzan, Antonio Inoki and Giant Baba were able to build.
