He's been a main eventer for so long and is so established that he remains over with the crowd through inertia. If he was a rookie trying to get over with his current gimmick and mic work he'd probably flop. Also he has the "singalong" music. That's something WWE is really big on nowadays. Some sort of audience participation to get people to connect with the character, like the Jey Uso (I think) head bob thing.

Pretty much. They cheer him because he's been there forever at this point, but when you actually watch he barely gets a reaction for anything other than his theme. He's one of, if not the, most-stale wrestler they have on the roster, outside of Charles. Giving him the belt is just as bad as giving it to HHH was in 2002.

It makes "sense" in that oh he's an established guy, but they forgot that people were already tired of these guys and wanted something different. Seth holding the belt is basically the same shit as Roman holding the belt, except Roman actually has a decent presence and at the time his storyline was peaking.

Seth, with the belt means absolutely nothing, when they at the very least, could've tried something new with someone. Why give Roman-lite the belt, when Roman already had a stranglehold on the main ones. Shit, the nature and how this belt is perceived was already a mistake, perfect for a heel to brag about how he holds the top title and shit.

As a character Seff always sucked, he can't talk for shit, and he has had terrible gimmicks in general, the monday night messiah being probably the best, his current one being a watered down version without the purpose. As a worker though, he is probably second only to AJ Styles in WWE, he is an incredible worker you can rely on to give you the match that you want. Not a big fan of the guy's character, but you can probably count on one hand the people who can actually rival him in in ring work.

Which means they’re not over, the entrance/song is over, and they hope it makes them over by proxy when they stop doing it.

Seff was genuinely over when he cashed in and won the championship at Mania play button, but everything he’s done since has been nothing to write home about and its his worst work so far.
