Well it's true. Jericho was my favourite but he wasn't a credible main event talent at all and it was a shock that he even had the title to begin with. He has never really felt like a top guy like Orton does, for example.
And I don't think it's wise to listen to some senile old man whol keeps confidently claiming that Asuka was the face of Stardom on his podcast, when she has never worked there.

Chris Jericho has never been a "main event" guy. He is a belt hanger, someone that main event guys used to drop and hold onto the title, so that they didn't have to wear out pinning each other, and playing hot potato for the belt. It is great that Chris worked himself to that spot, considering his size, but it also the reason he had that spot. he was never seen as a threat to take interest away, compete with or become a main event level draw by the actual main eventers or the company, no matter how many times he held the belt. Jericho has never elevated anyone in a feud, has never made anyone in a feud, and was never seen as a main draw by anyone during his heyday. You can like his promos, appreciate his in ring work, and like his feuds and that still doesnt change anything about him not being a main event guy.

Who should they have pushed as top heel other than HHH? Rock left, Austin left, Brock left, Taker was broken down, nobody trusted HBK for like four years and he wasn't exactly believable, who's left? 5'9 Jericho? Steiner who could barely walk?

HHH was the face for both programs you fucking ape. His run on top as a face has always flopped. Yet they stayed with him until they turned him heel. So why can't you just turn Jericho face? He was getting loud pops in 2001, but suddenly someone is coming back and thhhey had to turn Jericho heel.

I grew up watching WCW and when Jericho went to the WWF and was main eventing, it didn't feel right to me.
He was smaller then the other guys for starters and looked weaker. Then when he unified the titles they looked weird on him.
I still think his WCW run even tho he didn't get out of the mid card was his best run.

I would also say "they tried", and that Angle was always a great comedy heel but never a threatening heel because they gave him goober booking instead of Brock booking. Not necessarily a bad thing, Angle had the best comedic timing around, but it's not the same.
