Tangentially related, but anyone else hate how getting hit by the belts is treated like a shotgun blast to the face? It never looks anywhere NEAR impactful enough to justify it being a guaranteed three count.

I’m gonna agree with you here, but I will say that back before like 2005 belt shots actually looked good. It’s all about how you hold and swing the belt. Most guys today just don’t give a fuck and leave all the responsibility on who’s taking the hit to sell it.

It goes back to the old pre Benoit meltdown days where dudes would take unprotected shots the forehead from a huge metal plate (the belt) all the time. THAT shit would fuck you up for a shoot and they still use it as a trope but forgot why it used to work in the first place.

I genuinely tried to watch some of this a couple hours ago, but had to close it during the first match. The fake crowd noise and Booker T on commentary was too much. Booker isn't even bad normally, but his "commentary mode" is fucking ridiculous. Don't know how you guys can watch this shit.
