Edge had a downside guarantee (i.e. before merch, bonuses, etc.) of $3 million/year. He wanted that to be bumped up to $5 million a year. Nick Khan said fuck no because there was no return on investment for the $3 million contract. They basically told him they wouldn’t pay him anywhere near what he wanted, but that Tony Kahn would. They left on great terms, hence the Smackdown send off in August.
