Pillman Jr is more comparable to Stone Cold, Taker, or Haitch. Unironically. WCW valued none of those dudes, gave none of them an extended run, and allowed them to just walk. Look bro, some of us were alive at that time and actually watched wrestling. Austin was on a level slightly above a jobber in WCW. Haitch too. There were people behind the scenes that understood that Austin had potential. But Austin was far from an established name. Austin's WCW run is exactly like Pillman Jr.'s AEW run. You had a dude with a decent look that the crowd reacted to that was buried by older wrestlers for political reasons. Pillman Jr isn't going to reach the same levels that Stone Cold did, but it was a smart signing. The dude can work. WWE signed him on the cheap. AEW misused him.

Flair had just returned from WWF and the match was a tag match with the Varsity Blondes. "Main Eventing" isnt exactly accurate, but you do have a point, Austin did have a run with the U.S. title from a singles standpoint. Regardless, my point does stand. WCW let him walk and didn't value him. He wasn't Stone Cold yet. There's a reason WWE signed Pillman Jr, and that reason is because he was massively underutilized in AEW. The dude has talent.
