See, with Taker he kind of eebs and flows.
In the mid 90s, he was basically booked like Hogan. They threw him against monsters that possibly only Shawn and Bret could have good matches with. And, he was saddled with a gimmick he had to play. Taker had fun matches when he was able to work with someone good. He even got a good match out of Nash so it's not like he wasn't carrying.
Then, his foot got hurt in 98 and like Austin, he decided to just work hurt until he had to leave and get divorced (KWAB). When he came back he was a complete shitter as American Bad Ass, but I think once he turned into Deadman Inc, he was a lot better and incorporated more of the "mmmmm strikes" to his style. And then around 2005-2006, he started to add more MMA stuff which let him not kill his knees. But he probably should've retired after Brock. I think his last good match was against Cm Punk. I wouldn't say he went out on a high note or the prime of his career at the end. It was a lot of shit and then a cinematic match that was entertaining to watch once, but you and I have probably never watched again.
As for the question, would LA Knight count? He's basically negotiating for his last contract at this point and he's getting the loudest pops in the arena.
