>>11835037He spent his early years refereeing shoot pedophiles, drug addicts and child- and drug traffickers.
Then he spent a good decade putting them over as top star athletes before being relegated to a future endeavour by a slick silver-tongued crook by name of Eric Bischoff.
What followed was a decade where he was fired, rehired, reallocated several times, did play-by-play for rookies hooked on somas and had to diplomatically tiptoe around them as the talent relations guy, all because the big man was raised by an abusive stepdad in a trailer and likes the drama.
Jim Ross saw the best bits of the business but made a living out of selling the worst bits of it. It worked for a while with the WWE and he enjoyed it, even if the burden and abuse cost him several Bell's Palsy attacks.
Now he's in AEW and it's looking more and more like the worst bits of the business coming back again.
Every match is a slog to sit through. Very few matches have an interesting story to tell, which means JR has very few things to say.
He spends his days traveling to the slop shop where he has to put trash over as treasure, not being allowed to BBQ at his own home, having to talk to Confat the con-artist who's only looking for JR to talk shit about the rubbish Meltzer once wrote, and watching shitty football.
On top of that, JR has complications from fully irradiating his lower leg as part of cancer treatment which did damage to the point where it'll have to be amputated, constant issues with his cpap machine, self-afflicted injuries from dealing with the fucking machine, and neverending guilt over sending his wife out to die.
No shit he's miserable.
No wonder JR now keeps saying "I'm not long for this world, Conrad".
"I don't know how long I'll be there for AEW".
He wants out.
