The show is way less focused but I'd much rather watch guys like Hobbs, Jay White and Swerve over Marko Stunt, Joey Janela and Jimmy Havoc so it balances it out

It was decent until they put the belt on Adam Page and has been unwatchable since then. I think that was like two years ago now. From what I have seen since it looks like it is shoot worse than the worst of TNA now.

AEW vastly exceeded anyone's original expectations and only a fool would disagree. Saying they could put on a show that outsold everything but a handful of WWE's biggest ever would've been deemed insane just earlier this year.

Yes for the most part.
What I wanted was frequent good matches and I got frequent good matches. Booking needs work as in stars building momentum probably shouldn’t go missing for weeks at a time and it had a surreal amount of setbacks out of it’s own control constantly shitting on long term plans almost every year but ultimately what I look for is in ring and it delivers greatly in that regard. I also like how much focus is given to its Tag Division which was always the plan since day one and has pretty much brought about a renaissance of Tag Team Wrestling in the West.
It’s the highest quality wrestling in the United States, probably in all of North America so yeah, it’s lived up to my expectations. I hope it can eventually go a few years without a major death, a top star missing due to injury, a significant release, or a global pandemic.

I was at DoN 2019 and the second episode of Dynamite. The early feud with the Elite and the Inner Circle was kino. When Cody broke that glass door to get to Jericho I was stoked that wrestling was BACK. It just felt like a lot was at stake in the matches. Then Hangman got the belt and he’s a boring lefty faggot, Moxley bleeds every match, and the rest is just yummy wummy workrate that doesn’t tell a story in the ring. Once all of the shitters started coming over from WWE I knew the fun was over. It’s obviously just Tiny KWAB’s pet project now.

e drones dont realize this but 2019/2020 aew was fucking AWFUL and had shitters like brandi rhodes, marko stunt, jimmy havic, LUTHER (btw his gimmick is that “he has a very symmetrical face”….not fucking kidding), sunny kiss, and WAR HOESE as “MAIN EVENTERS”

aew is objectively in a way, WAY better spot than it was in 2019 and 2020.

havoc had a main event 3 way with darby and janela
sunny kiss and war horse had main event matches with cody during the tnt title era
brandi and luther had that shit angle that ended super fast about the bald headed cult that closed a show

and marko stunt idk, i cant find any times he was in the main event, but im almost certain he has been in one with jungle boy for some tag match.

fuck you guys for making me look this shit up. i almost want to just think youre e drones false flagging and dont want to admit aew sucked WAY more back then.

it was interesting and kind of exciting when it first started, then it got bad very quickly but I gave it a chance and assumed it was teething problems, though I stopped watching completely shortly after cody left because it's almost like the show was standing at the edge of a cliff and decided to jump off
fair play to them they were trying to do something different for a while and they were slowly starting to get some direction, but now from what I read it's just washed ex WWE/NXT shitter debuts and epic dream matches with no proper storylines unless your entire life revolves around wrestling because they stopped doing vignettes (theirs were good) and like to take people off TV for weeks
I know they were pushing midget charisma vacuums like yuta, martin and garcia for a while too and calling them the next stone cold

I really had high hopes. In retrospect it felt like high production early 90s WCW. They were definitely trying to push more of a combat sport vibe. The roster was questionable but I didn’t expect them to have major stars outside of the Elite, Cody, and Jericho. They definitely had guys from all types of pro wrestling styles which was I thought was cool. Daily’s Place was actually cool for being a unique wrestling venue and their PPVs felt important. I was very optimistic at the time.

It’s very clear after Cody left that he had to have been helping Tony with booking. I put in about as much time into watching AEW as I do WWE, which is very minimal. I don’t understand the direction anything is going on. Every week just feels like TK is putting the AEW/ROH roster through TEW and making going off that. Despite the GIANT roster, a very small percent feel unique. AEW needs to find a real booker and stop acting like every young skinny twink wrestler is the next big star. They spend no effort into actually building stars. They are just throwing shit to the wall and see what sticks. Out of all the OGs, Jungle Boy was on that right path of building a star and now that’s pretty much done for. Also after 4 years of AEW, they can not have EVPs be active roster members. It just can not work.

Take off the nostalgia goggles and it's better now than it was then. Janela, Kip Sabian and Private Party were in Dynamite main events. It's just not as cozy now and is hurt by backstage shit that has gone on. Signing too many exWWE wrestlers with chips on their shoulder hurt.

My expectations were that it would have a stable million-ish audience because the WWE fandom insofar as TV viewership is basically as far as it goes these days, anyone that watches Raw knows all about wrestling, dirtsheets, it's just the hardcores remaining viewing live.
The reality is that the ratings are stable in the low-end of that range but attendance is piss-poor and the product is awful, so you're wrong. It did not exceed my expectations.
Also Wembley buff is real.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Nigger it's only been 4 years. Nostalgia goggles are not in play. You go back and watch Dynamite episodes from 2019 and they're miles better because the flaws were still under the surface instead of all up in your face like they are now.
