here's what really has happened wwe gained the aew audience that was brought back to wrestling- that 10 to 20 percent increase is just literally aew fans tuning back in. AEW fans are mostly old school wrestling fans who were around during the attitude era, now they have chosen wwe over aew hence why wwe is popular. Overall I think wwe didn't create any wrestling fans, just used old fans.
