After that Sid was eternally checked out from the business and was there to make enough money to comfortably fund his softball. He never played the political game, neither wanted to nor knew how to. Not many people fucked with him because of his size and Nash liked him enough to give him a good word in WCW but he wasn't motivated enough on or offscreen to do more than he did, he's exactly what Nash pretends to be- big man who was there to make money and call it a day. Nash LARPs that he's a money & miles guy but is too insecure and quick to defend criticism of his booking, his work, his WWF title run, Shawn's work, etc., it's a cope for the fact he never moved the needle by himself or earned the same backstage respect as less successful peers.

He's just been completely out of the business for too long. He doesn't do podcasts. He doesn't do online interviews that get spread around and he hasn't been on TV for a long time. He also was more important to the lore of WCW than WWE and WWE doesn't put over WCW much.

To be honest, he's kind of a boring wrestler. I was watching some stuff from '95-'97 with him in the main event and I could see why business was down at the time. Nobody at the top in that period was fit to be THE guy, and that includes Sid.

The reason he isn't discussed much is the people discussing wrestling online are fat faggots who watch sports entertainment like WWE and AEW and have no concept of what pro wrestling is even supposed to be. I remember Sid all the way back to his Memphis debut as Lord Humongous.
Great look but limited skill in the ring.
Lawler used to do charity softball all over the area.
They would come do a wrestling show and drink beer and play softball for charity and you actually saw the money get used at the rec center.
Good guys.
Sid was a good wrestler, but the days of the lumbering giants were winding down post steroid scandal.

Entertainment was severely limited until the late 80s in most places.
You had four channels, one being PBS.
If you were lucky you got one of the first super stations, TBS.
Wrestling was an easy slot to make for most of these stations at the local level.
If you were smart, you knew it was fake and just laughed at it, but there were people who thought it was real, but that just added to the heat, part of the entertainment.
The other guy is right; if you had any taste in wrestling, you gave up in early 2000s.
Once no one gave a fuck about kayfabe, the clock was ticking.
To me, it all started with the Undertaker and the dead man shit.
Wrestlers would keep kayfabe in the supermarket, but how are you supposed to keep kayfabe as a dead man going in for a carton of milk?
It was so fucking stupid.
