Everyone knows what it is, the name is nice, and it's easy to make a commercial advertising it to people who haven't watched wrestling before. AEW doesn't have anything iconic or interesting like that. They just have events, half of which are supposed to be their version of wrestlemania. Since there's nothing important, there isn't much to sell. Their market is largely limited to people who are already into wrestling, almost all WWE fans, who want to try it out specifically because it's more wrestling content. They pretty much maxed out the smark audience, so the only place they had to go was down - which they did.
Also he mishandles the world-title. There are tons of people who should hold it more than once or for a longer period of time who don't, so it's hard to give a shit about a title nothing interesting happens with. Meanwhile, the title sits on someone like MJF who is currently burying the roster by hogging the spotlight in the same way Super Cena and Based Big Dog used to. Somehow the title has been tossed around too much and not enough.
The only way AEW doesn't fizzle out like impact and RoH is if Tony can sit down and put some structure to the show, utilize all the talent he has while he still has it, and explore more audiences and areas to monetize so that the company isn't e-lite.
