What even is heat anymore? It's completely warped since kayfabe has been broken. There is no one in that classic definition where "they pay to see you get your ass kicked".

There's either Corbin heat where everyone just thinks you suck and wants you to go away. There's MJF/Dom heat where they boo to play along with the act. Then there's Juice/Hassan heat where you do something controversial and risk being fired for it because everyone is a pussy.

I'm not even sure people WANT to see Roman lose anymore. The coconut niggers have sold a lot of shirts.

This. The death of Kayfabe at the hand of stupid promoters and smarks/IWC has changed heat drastically. If some of the Juice/Hassan things happened in the territory days, people would pay huge money to watch the babyface eviscerate the fucker on live television or a house show at the next available time.

That has nothing to do with Smarks or specifically wrestling fans on the internet. It has to do with the internet in general and the cultural landscape of the last 5-ish years. I can think of literally dozens of things that would have created a cancel mob during the attitude era. Where non-wrestling fans or oversensitive faggots would have said a line was crossed. Everyone that talked about wrestling on the internet in the late 90’s was a smark and none of them behave the way people that live on the internet in 2023 do.
