I suppose you've got to define significant. No one is drawing WWE numbers in AEW because WWE is on free TV. The times when WWE goes on free networks it drops to AEW numbers more or less. I remember a Brock Lesnar stacked SDL doing 850k viewers for example. When SDL moved over a few months ago it did 1m or something. Nowhere close to the 2.5m it does on free TV.

Danielson is typically in the top quarters and if he has match it tends to be even more prevalent so I'd say he definitely IS a draw for them. The issue is competition on the night and the network itself. Danielson also stabilised Collision to CM Punk levels despite football competition, though they still got smoked when WWE put a PPV on that night.

Danielson is a draw and fans certainly love him. The problem is that he isn't booked as such because Tony keeps allowing these fucking wrestlers to dictate what they want to do rather than what's good for business.

Bryan wants to wrestle his dreamy yummy 50 minutes grappling matches instead of actually being a champion and carry the company. That doesn't work. I remember when he first appeared against Omega, he looked like a million bucks. Now he's just cold.

Tony needs to grow a spine and put his foot down, and stop letting the inmates run the aslyum.

You're taking what I said literally when all I was trying to say is that he is clearly going for Meltzer stars instead of actually being a star. This is the problem all of AEW's main event talent seems to have. Kenny is the same, wasting his time in Bucks tag team matches. Or Moxley 'just let me bleed bro'.

Jericho is the only one who had the right idea - go in, establish yourself as a star, prop the product and then when you cannot go anymore, establish new talent in the midcard. These guys are all still relatively young for wrestlers and can still go yet they refuse to because they're fucking marks for their wrestling fetishes.

In WWE, he had the underdog status and he had the technical aspect down, plus had the presentation and backing. The only thing holding him back was his size and Vince McMahon eventually cracked.

In AEW, there are lots of things holding him back:

Just going off what he's said publicly the core problem is he's too much of a mark for Pro Wrestling itself.

In WWE this actually wasn't a problem with Vince in charge, and actually became a positive and was what got him over with fans. However in AEW the goal of the company isn't to make money, the goal is to entertain Tony. In that environment Bryan is free to indulge his Markiest of urges and do stupid shit like killing off his own Singles Heel run (which was fantastic) and go form a stupid Stable with Mox and Claudio while they push a dimeless geek like Yuuter just because he likes him as a person.

Basically Bryan doesn't care about getting himself Over at this point in his career on top of being in a Company that doesn't care about drawing money. And so you get what you got here.

Yep. The talent should only have input if they've shown the ability to draw on their own. This is why The Rock and Stone Cold closely collaborated with McMahon, Russo and Ferarra during their top guy stints. They knew how to be television protagonists.

100% unironically and without trolling or being inflammatory. WWE has no real stars and hasn't had any for a long time. Roman Reigns could come out on Dynamite with the title and the Bloodline and you're MAYBE get 300,000 tuning in to see it and it wouldn't last a month. Because instead of giving Bryan the strap and promoting it everywhere, Tony let's Bryan put everyone over. Bryan should have beat won the title every time he's challenged for it and Tony should have taken out commercials on Fox and USA promoting AEW and propping Bryan up.

It's basically this, albeit other people in the thread also made good arguments. Sure, you can have a small bump on special occasions like CM Punk's or Bryan's debut, but generally very few of those are gonna stay after that.

Wrestling hasn't had any draws for like 20 years. The vast majority are just marks for a specific company that will rarely stray away from said company and boomers who are too tired and bored to switchy the channel.

The few times Smackdown changed from FOX, the ratings fucking tanked to Dynamite levels and that just proves it.
