Remember when the GMs used to be people we already knew like Bischoff, Heyman, Steph, even Long had been a manager. But now it's "some guy from the Indies with no on screen background in WWE". It makes no sense.

Didn't care for the direction NWA was heading.
Didn't like the indies/Impact.
No interest in AEW.

So its either go NJPW/some other Jap fed/AAA/CMLL, or work backstage at WWE.
He took the second option.
Likely a longevity choice.
