He can make the transition. This at least makes him a fixture on television. If he's able to prove himself as a character and performer, then why wouldn't they use him as a wrestler?

I always say there should be more managers, announcers, etc that can wrestle if the storyline calls for it… they don’t need to all have 0 power levels

you would know this if you watched Aldis in the NWA. Nick Aldis is decent in the ring, but not so good on the mic. He used to cut these cringey, bumbling promos in an old-timey suit, trying his best to be like Flair and failing miserably. So, they're forcing him into a talking role to try and improve that aspect. Or it could be that WWE is just retarded and loves to waste everybody.
