>>11937319Steve SHOULD work better - almost a total opposite of Al to milk jokes that way. The writers definitely wanted that dichotomy to work with. But the joke is obvious, isn't it? The audience already gets that the Bundys are nuts, they don't need to be constantly smacked over the head about it.
SO Jefferson is absolute dimes by being a snakey schemer somewhat like Al, and so they get caught up in each other's shit and egg each other on and so on. It escalates and it just works.
It's like wrestling - you can plot out the best storyline, orchestrate these great moments, but it can just be a bit over baked and boring, while something that just kinda rides the wave sticks
That being said, episode where Steve comes back is a five star classic
