The thing about elevating minor titles is that you need to make sure your main title isn't passed in the process. The world title has lost all its prestige since Punk came back, and you're absolutely right that Christian has elevated the TNT belt past it (and the International as well)

Jericho, Mox, and Omega were good.
Mox’s reign was hit by Covid and Omega was hit by a multitude of nagging injuries but they were good.
Hangman’s reign was middling but the matches were fantastic.

It all falls apart at Punk.

Hangman and Omega had pretty good matches but the feuds were kinda underwhelming.
Moxley had Covid against him
Jericho was fine considering he's way past his peak, he did what was expected of him, which was helping AEW at the start.
Punk had potential but his unjury and his backstage shit ruined everything
MJF isn't awful but doesn't feel like a world champ

So while I wouldn't say that all runs have been bad, I think there hasn't been a world champ that truly shines.

MJF has some good storylines from time to time but he really doesn't carry himself like a world champ sometimes and I think a big part of it is him trying to act like Jericho and trying to get stupid catchphrases over every week.

Does he though? How many of those 40 million youtube views are watching the show weekly? I hate the indy mindset of thinking social media views = people want to see you. Joey Ryan's dick spots did great numbers, but probably hurt wrestling more than it helped. I'm pretty sure when people see these videos, whether it's OC, Joey Ryan's dick, or that stupid snake dance hypnosis clip, they think "oh those silly wrestler are at it again" and they have no interest in actually watching the show.

I understand that he has a "comedy side" to his wrestling, but man this really didn't translate well into the product. It's such a weird tonal shift to what people were expecting from Kenny as a world champ that I suspected the gimmick was meant to be a shot at someone in the industry. Either way, it blew chunks and killed a lot of the hype for him as the top guy.
>2. Adding the "Belt Collector" gimmick.
Look, it was good for the cameras but it sucked. Most of the matches save for like two were even noteworthy. Combine that with the fact that the AEW belt was seeing some turbulence itself and the belts were devalued, moreso the AAA and Impact titles. It wasn't until the Christian match where the Belt Collecter gimmick was killed and the AEW title picture got more interesting and Kenny got some fresh challengers. The comedy still persisted but one head of the beast was still hacked off, never to recover.
