Jake was a good worker and had a good physique though. Go watch his match in '86 against Savage listed on the OP.
As far as build goes, he only ever looked bad on Mid-south, where he just used sweatpants

I'm not familiar with as many promotions as i'd like but i can tell you this:
>80s Crockett
The vanilla flavor of southern american wrestling. Singles matches are generally structured with: Shine, cut off, heat, comeback in mind. Tags build to a hot tag. All to get the crowd to reach
>Memphis Wrestling
It's still southern american wrestling at its core, but the fans liked brawls and blood. A lot of it has to do with Jerry Jarrett's philosophy of "personal issues draw money"
>80s WWF
The southern american style stripped down to its most basic. In part because the rings were harder than down south so bumps were more punishing. A lot more focus on the getting a reaction from the crowd
>NJPW (Strong style)
Focused on realism and technical work. Karl Gotch trained Inoki and the generation that learned under him with an athlete's regime
>90s AJPW (King's road)
Like the americans, they want the audience to react. The main difference is that their aim to wow the people instead of making them cheer or boo. Faces and heels are loosely enforced, if at all

I don't suppose you or anyone else know what style late 80's early 90's AJW (Joshi) was? Feels sort of like King's Road, but much faster paced.

They are playing all WCW, ECW, WWF, UFC broadcasted events in chronological order. They just got to 1996 so things are about to get REAL spicy with the Monday Night Wars. He plays all PPVs as well.

Before this he played all of the attitude era. So I’m hoping they reset again once they reach the end of the attitude era.

80s AJW was very basic. Lots of drop kicks and body slam. It was a lot more character driven than anything else in Japan.
By the 90s girls took they had gotten rid of the strict the heel and face dynamics which made 80s AJW great and replaced it with more spectacular moves, and the drama was more driven by the individual girls being desperate to win more so than faces over coming the heels.

I think modern indies are more influenced by Dragon Gate, without understanding those guys only train with and wrestle each other, and you aren't going to hit your mark as consistently as they do when you only wrestle 8 times a year.
