Always felt the point of Adam Page's character is that he's had to grow into a role he's unfit for (he inherited the gimmick from Doc Gallows) but AEW does a really bad job at hammering that point home so he's just "le sad cowboy"

His character used to be decent. Now he's afraid of carrying a noose around because of the implications. Then leaned into being liberal and did shit like wearing bedazzled jeans and talking about his feelings to appeal to feminine modern men.

It's actually that he's legit some boring farmer dude who owns cows and that was his only interesting personality trait. When he joined Bullet Club in the post-Devitt era when every new member had to give himself a stupid nickname, they had to make his Cowboy related because he had nothing else going for him. It was immediately anti-dimes and he looked like a 1990 WWE comedy jobber and that's also how he was used until aew pushed him.

He's not retired just on the indies.
Roode had back surgery and is already 46, backstage producer for wwe now. Recently got taken off the active roster list. Probably unofficially retired.
