Edge has been ice cold since the Judgment Day feud ended.
It was a massive miscalculation by AEW to bring him in at the level they're using him now.
I think they saw they had lightning in a bottle with Christian and instead of using him to make one of their guys a star TK would rather bring Edge in to fulfill another one of his E-Fed fantasies.

Who was particularly surprised at his debut by the time it happened? I can get people being surprised at the fact he'd no longer be with WWE. But I don't really think it was any shock or big secret he was going to AEW by the time he finally showed up. Also as far as cold goes he's gotten a great reaction from the crowds there every time he's been on just as he did in WWE. Any issues AEW is having with ratings or audiences existed long before there we even talks of him going there and will take more work across the entire company than just bringing him in to fix them. I get he's the guy who's cool to hate right now but not everything can fall on him

AEW was at it's most competitive when it was an alternative brand. It's gone from looking like Pepsi to WWEs Coke to looking like Diet Coke. It's the same shit just slightly worse.
