He's in a better role now and will improve. The biggest problem is AEW just has so many dimeless shitters, and so many guys who could be dimes but are presented like shit because of booking or favouritism.
Darby is based but has a very low ceiling, he is too small & skinny to be anything other than a crash test dummy playing the role of "guy who takes insane beatdowns & bumps to get the other guy over". Soon as his body breaks down he's done.

Adam Cole, frail, weedy, no real charisma just says his name, no legitimacy, bad larp of RVD/Lynn or Malenko/Guerrero tradeoff matches.
Luchasaurus, dimeless name & gimmick but negative dimes as himself, sloppy spotty tryhard in ring.
Wardlow. No charisma, world's smallest hoss.
Nick Wayne. Dimeless ultra zoomer.
FTR. Obnoxious fake tough oversensitive retards whose Brainbusters larp is beyond stale.
Hobbs. No charisma, boring to watch in & out of ring, charity store Rhino.
Could be dimes but aren't:
Santana/Ortiz. Ok together, negative dimes solo. Retards for splitting.
Sammy. Needs to rip off Miz, Dom Mysterio, RVD be a cocky showoff heel coward
Swerve. Push harder, lean into being a heel instead of pseudo-sympathetic race-baiting like the Hangman angle.
Archer. Biggest guy they have, should be their Awesome/Vader style athletic monster.
Kingston. Lose the fat, gain biceps, stop the shitty MISAWAAA larp chop & elbow spam he can't throw either.
Miro. Push him as Redeemer.
Butcher. Stick him with Archer & Jake.
Brody King. Stick him with Archer & Jake as 3rd man.
Orange Cassidy. Scale back push, book him like a cocky Darby Allin instead of a killer.
