Why did smackdown become the premier show for WWE?
the company rode on RAW for years and it just suddenly flipped

SmackDown was always the better show from the UPN to The CW to Sci-Fi to USA Network to Fox they’ve been bullying Raw for years.

Except for the MyTv late 2000’s years those were terrible. La Familia was the worst faction of all time.

They moved to Fox and made it their A show.
That’s pretty much it.
The biggest stars and stories in the company began to be highlighted on WWE blue and Raw became the B show.

like, RAW literally saved the company in the 90s and then when wcw lost the Monday war they just gave up on it and started a different promotion

Because Fox had more viewers and paid more for the rights. Raw became taken for granted and SD appeased their masters. Despite performing under Fox's 3m+ expectations, it is still the current most watched wrestling show in America and possibly the world. Why wouldn't you make that one the big one?

because wwe wanted viacom to give them more money for raw and smackdown. viacom said 'we'll take raw, then. fuck smackdown.'' then fox freaked the fuck out after losing their lineup and spent more for smackdown than viacom did for raw.

thus, smackdown became the 'A' show.

I've always been a Smackdown fan. Even in the Ruthless Aggression era most of the wrestlers I liked were on Smackdown

Because of Fox. It makes more sense, frankly (if it stays on Friday and Raw stays on Monday, though there's talk of moving Raw). MNF is always going to cut deeply into Raw's audience.
