WWE already have a token joshi on the staff and their audience wouldn’t know who she is so there’s not much value in her well past her prime as an onscreen performer. Hell just look at when ROH, who’s fans are much more plugged into that sorta thing, tried to push her as their top woman, it bombed.

Funny thing is that Sumie hasn't regularly worked Japan in almost 20 years. She got pushed in ROH because she'd Japanese and thus was a "joshi" but most of her career has been on the American indies.

I think Asuka has hung out a couple times with the other asians, but she's just a homebody with a life and interests outside wrestling and is a few years older than most of them so there's little common ground, Plus she doesn't even live in Florida like many of the others.
