This run was really weird. I understand that he's very well respected and a "wrestler's wrestler" typa guy but I don't get why Vince hired and pushed this middle aged Irishman at the height of the Ruthless Aggression era.

Sheamus didn't debut as some serious old man though. His current role has him displaying infinitely more charisma, character and connection to the audience than Finlay ever had.

The SmackDown roster was extremely thin and Finlay was a great wrestler. He took Batista under his wing to help improve his wrestling and it worked.
