It's the fandom's fault. We as a whole let a gossip reporter also become the sole critic of the art form.
Only other voice to rise up is Jim Cornette, but because he discusses the aspects of wrestling that go into a good match and doesn't just provide definitive list of what he thinks is good he's not going to have the same influence after his death as Dave's 5 star wiki page will.

Imagine going through all of Dave's 5 star matches, starting out with real all time greats like the Fantastics, Funk, Flair, Hansen, Jumbo, Misawa. And then you go to the 2000s and things really slow down, but then in the late 2010s and 2020s you get a million matches that are just the same fags flipping and making retarded facial expressions.

Reminder that back in the day the WCW fans leveled the same shit at Meltzer that the WWE goofs do today. This is all just tribal bullshit, cocksuckers like these two would be very quiet if it was WWE with the higher rated matches.
