The problem is that they went for a couch multiplayer game. Which is based and all, but couch multiplayer as a whole has been dead for like over a decade so it was doomed to flop. It’s fun. It’s not worth 60$. Maybe 30. But it’s more fun than most slop they pump out these days

There is plenty to say, but it has already been said. I don't think you actually own the game, or else you would know first hand that the story mode is barely 2 hours long, the cutscenes are a joke, the women have the same story as the men for some reason, right down to fighting male opponents, branching paths was a lie, there are bugs and missing dialogue, the online doesn't work properly, servers and rooms were a lie, CAW is terrible, minigames terrible and still have issues that are not fixed, engine is from an old WWE game, so are the assets, balance is practically nonexistent, etc. It's unfinished trash shoveled out to try and screw over their fans to make some money back from their failed investment .

It shines real bright with the average match being two minutes, and almost always ending with the first submission. How about when the CPU gets themselves counted out? Going for a cutter and teleporting in the air due to missing animations is also kino. Infinite combos you can spam are also based.

There really isn't anything to worry about. As the weather gets warmer, most of AEW's fan base is spending more time outside. Planting gardens and doing yard work. Doing home improvement projects. Having cookouts and going on picnics. Going to clubs, concerts, and outdoor festivals. Socializing with others. Jogging, swimming, Hiking, and other outdoor sports. Doing volunteer work, etc. The ratings dip shouldn't surprise anyone that knows AEW fans. They are just simply focusing on the things that bring the most out of life, as always.

Seeing Cena without an actual crowd was a pretty sobering experience. It seemed like a plastic spider put somewhere as a prank, but when you know it was fake, you just felt disappointed. And not scared at all. Cena without a crowd is something the WWE should have never allowed to happen, no matter how bad the viewership was. It was surreal and dystopian to say the least. Imagine walking into an empty room, and shaking hands with Cena. And then letting him talk to nobody for about 4 minutes. Makes one think about the futile pursuit of fame. Even if you are a "good guy" that "gives back". When everybody else is presumed dead, you won't be a hero to anyone.

Nobody plays on PC. its the smallest subsection of gamers, by far. most people still play on consoles.
1) consoles (by a HUGE margin)
2) smartphones
3) handhelds
4) pc

almost NOBODY plays on pc. for reference, fight forever is still in the top 100 most player games on xbox (on xbox.com/store), higher than some old call of duty games (like cod ghosts), which has 700 players online right now in multiplayer.

safe to assume fight forever is somewhere around 1000 players on xbox.

It is. I played it at my friend's house and couldn't believe how shit it was. I was really looking forward to it because they said it would be like the old N64/Gamecube games but it literally played like an unfinished demo of Wrestlemania 2000. I thought WWE games had been shockingly bad for a decade or so now, but this was somehow even worse. At least WWE game have entrances.

They ported the WWE 2k14 engine and their WWE assets to UE, but they didn't know how to use it properly or all the platforms the game was being made for, so the base animations usually work, but anything requiring new coding that couldn't be directly ported in has issues, which is also why the ring, steps, floor and barricade are so glitchy and the game can't run more than 4 wrestlers on screen at once in matches. Leapfrogs also don't work correctly and you almost always clip through the guy, then he jumps too late, or the guy can't get in position for the Cody Cutter so you warp to his destination.

It won't be a flop on this level since it isn't blowing 7 figures but it isn't looking too hot gameplay-wise right now, looks like kind of a plodding engine test barely in alpha. It's got some nice animations but so does FF, I know it's not coming out for a while though so it'll probably improve. Honestly I think the next big 'No Mercy' will be No Mercy itself, the modding scene's really started to pick up with the VPW Studio tool (native ROM-level texture replacement/stat changing) along with a new animation maker tool. I don't think there'll be a need for a 'clone' game when you can just easily fuck with the original.

More people are realizing that the video game business is fucking horrible and it can't make anything good anymore. Modding communities for traditional sports games in particular are growing quickly as well. No Mercy has had a strong modding community for years, which is why Fight Forever's premise is fucking stupid. People already have a way to scratch that retro wrestling game itch with current day wrestlers. Shows you how much of an out of touch poser Kenny Omega is. He doesn't know shit about video games.

The bind AEW found themselves in is that Syn Sophia (the former AKI) are a HUGE developer now, just recently they put out Fashion Dreamer for Switch and before that the Style Savvy series and they all sell like hotcakes. Basically Tony would have had to pony up and even more millions to pull them away from their very lucrative fashion games to make a wrestling game that probably wouldn't even sell a fraction of one dress-up game. I'm sure they still have the code/engine but unless it's a huge money offer I doubt we'll ever see it again.

The problem is they opted for locking the platforms in online play. Having a lobby of 20 players each across playstation, Xbox, PC and Switch is much worse than having 80 players online. It means people are not getting match ups and aren't playing.

Yeah pretty much across the board sports games are anti-dime shitters now, soccer fans for instance are still modding the hell out of PES 6 because nothing's been anywhere close to as good since, racing games are also almost universally dogshit now but stuff like Richard Burns Rally still has a strong modding community keeping it in a class of its own. Pretty much every genre of sports game peaked some time in the 2000s and publishers see fit to just continually drop the ball. Fight Forever is a particularly ergregious example as Yukes had basically a blank cheque and a three year dev cycle to deliver and they still managed to fuck it up. So why have hope? Just stick to what's fun right now.

The rumor was a lot of people left/were relieved from the project after the game went gold and the especially abysmal quality of the recent DLC models seem to suggest as much, if there's only a skeleton crew pumping out the lazy post-launch shit left I won't be surprised. On discord the devs have waved off any further updates to Road to Elite because the guy who wrote for it left the project, as if he was some kind of asset lmao

a lot. WWE 2K23 still has 15% of its peak players as a base despite being twice as old as Fight Forever. Fight Forever has lost 99.5% of its peak and it has been this way for a while. A fuckton of people got refunds. Some people even said that they beat Elite mode in less than 2 hours and still were able to get a refund.

That isn't really a gotcha, lots of the hand-crafted move animations in the game look really good like the Crossrhodes and One Winged Angel, but some look pretty bad too like the Buckshot and really any kind of flying move. Hand-crafted is unironically the better way to do it, IF you do it well, the bigger issue here is execution and how completely jank the engine is, hard to appreciate hand-crafted moves in-between all the teleporting, limb glitching and nonsense.
