Whose career was cut short solely because of a six sided ring?
Most of the TNA originals still wrestle to this day. AJ, Jeff Jarrett, James Storm, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Frankie Kazarian, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, etc. What the hell is she talking about?

TNA and it's six sided ring was something to differentiate it from the competition. Like when AEW had the tunnels, closer camera work and the rankings. Once you get rid of the differentiation, you're just Diet Coke WWE.

Yeah, six sided ring was smart, especially if we're nearing another wrestling boom with multiple promotions on TV. If you're just flipping through the channels and stumble across a six sided ring (even if you're a non-wrestling fan) it might be enough to make you say "What the hell is this?" and watch for a few minutes. It's eye catching and sets them apart.

Some ex-TNA wrestler explained it once but I'm having trouble finding the interview. It has something to do with the hexagonal shape being made up of more, smaller panels of plywood, and it has less give and bounce than a regular, square ring.

Yeah but I think in that same interview he later says that once he tried the 4 sided ring it felt relieving or something. I personally don't know what it is about 6 vs 4 sodes but I guess it's harder/more taxing?

He talked about this on the Stone Cold podcast. Said that he liked the 6 sided ring because it made TNA stand out but taking back bumps in the traditional ring was a lot easier.

It was retarded and literally everyone hated wrestling in it because it was stupid and only used there unless you'd worked for some kind of obscure Mexican shindie or whatever. Different isn't always good and everyone who's worked in it has said it's harder on the body. Andrew Everett said that it made the ropes tighter which was good for stuff like springboards but it also meant that hitting the ropes hurt a lot more and that it also meant there were more cross beams which made the ring harder which meant bumps hurt more. Styles said he grew to like the ring because it was different but also said basically the same thing about it. Also the ring was smaller which was made worse by the weird shape which meant that a lot of wrestlers found maneuvering around it difficult because you had less room than you were used to, even from working indie shows and shit.

Bumps already fuck you up and the six sided ring makes bumping even worse and adds more wear and tear on your body. You can get away with it in Mexico because Mexican rings are basically concrete which is why everybody rolls instead of bumps. But that's not really going to work outside of an environment already used to not bumping.
