I don't know if there's a term for it but Sting is kind of a draw when it comes to keeping the promotion afloat.
- He kept early WCW/NWA afloat before Hulk Hogan by being able to have dimes matches with Ric Flair
- He kept that part of the audience interested that were sick of Hulkster vs the super villains
- He was the only worthy protagonist vs NWO and Hollywood Hogan
- He gave TNA alot more years thanks to M.E.M and Joker Sting. Without him, TNA would've been on life support earlier
- In AEW he is the glue that keeps a PPV card together. He is a palate cleanser in an otherwise boring Dynamite.

So maybe he hasn't single-handedly keeping a company alive but he has always been able to be the yin to someone's yang
