What's the reasoning behind the trend of super long title reigns?

But regardless, what are the bookers thinking with this? It made more sense in the 60s and 70s when there wasn't a weekly TV show. Doesn't this make things a bit stale?

I've never watched AEW, but know they hot potato their titles (props) on the reg. Which led to WCW's downfall, but I digress. I think Tony thinks that long term title reigns legitimizes his only true championship. But the problem is, he puts it on all the wrong people.

Tony is trying to fix the legitimacy of his World Title because "Interim Championships" killed all his made up belts. There's no history. No legacy. They're paper championships. Tony is a nerd. And he lost to an all women edition of NXT. It's over for that greasy faggot with his brown skin and his shitty ass fed. The asswipe didn't even strip the tag belts once his secondary pissant Cole got injured.
