Objectively speaking, in ring wrestling is the third most important thing about pro wrestling. 1 is promo, 2 is character/entrance. This is why WWE could get so many people over for so long. Nobody actually rewatches old wrestling matches at the same level they just watch cool pops. This is why Vince was always right about the whole “sizzle vs steak”, they want cool moments to rewatch not long substantial wrestling matches. If you have cool guys that can deliver both then that’s amazing but it isn’t needed of a top guy. This is why wrestling is in the shitter, there isn’t top stars who can get that crazy pop anymore or make those cool moments, it’s just forgettable Abercrombie fitch looking dorks coming out to generic music and doing some stupid create a character pose on the way to the ring. Case and point Finn Balor, whose gimmick is a jacket.
