HCTP has better raw arcade action and is faster paced. You can also make entire custom moves and taunts with the animation editor. Besides the obvious uses you can also make crazy movement abilities like backrolling across the entire ring in one move or clipping through the opponent to end up behind them. SvR 06 has higher production values, with in game commentary, a campaign mode with actual voice acting and more structured storylines, a better CAW mode and less janky gameplay.
Personally I like HCTP better but I can't knock someone for saying 06 is their favorite either. Any other answers are objectively wrong.
