The original plan for Kenny losing the title was after running through the whole roster was going to be for all the faces to beg Jericho to allow Cody to challenge for the title, and then Cody would finally dethrone Kenny.
Instead the elite lobbied to have Kenny drop the title to the kid whose never on TV cause of their brilliant long term storytelling him being jealous the bucks held Kenny's hand on the way to the ring and not his.
That's why Cody left.
