Cornette is the the most egregious example of what I call the “wrestling booker”. Guys like him, Bruce Prichard, and a bunch of other non-wrestlers who literally just showed up at wrestling shows in the late 70s/early 80s at age 13 with a camera and asked to get hired as a photographer or selling programs. And the promoter told them, “yeah, kid, sure thing. I admire your go-getter attitude!”. They then just hung around doing bitch work until they were eventually allowed to be a manager or help book or whatever, and 40 years later they’re still around. And they bitch constantly about the current generation of wrestlers. Imagine if you were to show up at a WWE show at age 13 with your little camera asking for a job. They’d assume that you’re retarded and give you a little foam belt before patting you on the back and telling your parents that they’re so brave. Cornette is the wrestling equivalent of the 65 year old boomer who bought an average house in 1980 for $32,000 and now it’s worth $1.2 million, and thinks you just aren’t working hard enough if you don’t also have a million dollar home.
