Intent is also another big part of it. Involuntary Manslaughter indicates there was no intent to hurt another person. He clearly intended to hurt the other player, because he jumped up and kicked him with what is essentially a big knife strapped to his foot.
He might still get off on a Manslaughter charge, but it wont be Involuntary.
