>>12118056He doesn't feel authentic enough.
He's got charisma, a good promo, good solid, solid in the ring, ticks all the right boxes in thoe regards, but he feels like a guy playing a gimmick rather than a guy being himself.
John Cena didn't click with adult fans because he was obviously playing a part, the real John Cena was talking about fucking fat rats on Howard Stern and ditching his wife and getting engaged to. Bella for a publicity stunt, while onscreen he's the aw shucks wholesome whiter than white do-gooder. He had charisma, looks and promos so got over with young fans and moved merch but Captain America Cena was phony, Thuganomics Cena was closer to the real him so clicked with adult fans.
Roman Reigns didn't click as a face because he was fake. Bloodline Roman- a nepotistic prick with a good look, but who has been handed everything because of his family and is propped up constantly by his family- taps into the real Roman Reigns, so is a successful heel.
The Rock felt authentic, he didn't feel like he was putting on an act. Same with Stone Cold.
Guys like Hogan, Warrior, Savage, Flair- sure they're coked up larger than life lunatics but they felt like this was them, not like actors playing a part.
Even Undertaker and Kane, hokiest gimmicks possible but they committed so much to the characters and kayfabe that you could look past the fact it was an act and get engaged in the gimmick.
LA Knight as good as he is hasn't quite managed yet to feel like he's truly, authentically living and breathing the gimmick- he still feels like a guy coming out and putting on a persona.
