Not gonna defend Omega's schtick, but I'm not going to defend Cornette's opinions on Omega either. Kenny Omega is primarily notable as a gaijin wrestler from Japan, because this is really all he's good at. His promos in Japanese when he's talking shit to NJPW wrestlers sound more masculine because he's imitating some Japanese anime actor he heard 20 years ago. For whatever reason, he's physically incapable of being cool or intimidating in promos in English, so he leans into being goofy. He's supposed to be a Kurt Angle type character who contrasts his "ring skills" with levity.
All this said, his AEW/English character fucking sucks. Corny's misunderstanding it and references to 50s theater actors also fucking sucks, and it's a bit he's recycled for 5 years to run up the length of the podcast. I just watch the segments of his AEW reviews, not the whole recap, because on Kenny and a few others he never says anything new or talks about the match other than insulting it. I wish they weren't as popular so we could get more classic wrestling research segments like the one on Pat Malone.
