They're really not that expensive most of the time to run and if you start seeing an up-tick in business you can respond to it rather than "oops, sorry we only booked 1500 capacity" plus you build business relationships with the owners of the arenas, and the arenas themselves.

I went to an AEW taping September last year and it was horrible. The worst part about the taping was that they filmed an episode of Dark too, so I had to sit through the stench twice as long than I should have. The only time I went to an event where it smelled worse was vtuber convention back in April last year.

But the thing is having a bunch of empty seats ruins the atmosphere. Having an audience that is packed creates a much more exciting air to the event which is better promo for the future. Isn’t that how they got started in the first place
