DDT Road to Ultimate Party 2023 in Shinjuku. Saki Akai just had her last singles match for DDT like 20 minutes ago and the roster came out and took turns telling her how much she meant to them and how much they love her. Very touching moment.

DDT is really easy to get into if you don't mind a promotion with a bit of an identity crisis between the comedy and serious stuff. I'd probably recommend one of their tournaments from the past few years, seeing Higuchi's rise to champion was a lot of fun. They don't run a heavy touring schedule so it's not hard to follow. They have a great small roster with a mix of everything. The booking is hit or miss as of late and I haven't kept up in a few months, but I'll always tune in for a Higuchi singles match for example.
Not a big Stardom fan outside of a few wrestlers, but their April PPV this year was really good. I'd probably skip the post-pandemic US indies unless you live near one.

Raws and PPVs from 1997. Really interesting seeing Stone Cold's rise and the Rocky coming into his own. The best is HBK and Triple H being shitheads every week. The 2000s version of DX was so lame you forget the original incarnation was so based. Also Shawn was incredible in the ring and even on the mic, even when he was slurring his words. The guy was the total package, too bad about the back injury and drugs.

I watched the pipe bomb live. I thought it was incredible and exciting. Felt very real in a sterile era of WWE. I was also a teenager. CM Punk made me excited about wrestling again on a weekly basis. MITB 2011 was incredible. Then everything else happened, like Triple H beating him for no reason and a feud with Kevin Nash. I wasn’t a big smark back then, but I did get the feeling it wasn’t all it could’ve been and it seemed like they weren’t giving him the best to work with. They fumbled it and I never want to watch that era again. It was fun for like 3 months tops.

Currently at the Road to WrestleMania 13. Psycho Sid is now a two time world champion despite the fact they could've had Bret vs. Austin in the main event. Fucking Christ, New Gen is so disjointed.
