Just watch whatever. If you want some more goofy stuff, go with the Show Godzilla/Showa Gamera (especially goofy). If you want serious stuff, check out the original Gojira, some of the Heisei stuff, and Heisei Gamera. Ultraman is its own beast so I'd just look up an Ultraman specific guide.

Millennium Goji was a heel for the majority of that era. Ever since Legendary came around, Godzilla has been a heel in Japan in pretty much everything that the japs make. They probably save the tweener shit for the USA like with Godzilla vs King Kong.

90s era has the most consistent chronology. Every single movie from the 80s & 90s happened in the same exact timeline. After that just jump around where ever. Legendary Hollywood is the only other era with a consistent timeline and a recurring cast. Legendary has Black Alex Jones & he's actually one of the best characters out of the entire God franchise.

The movie is doing great at the box office. This is a great chance for them to reinvent the entire franchise in the kino 50's era aesthetic. With either new monsters or old ones, they have huge potential for kino I hope they don't waste this chance like they did after Shin did so well.
