Juice was the midcard guy in NJPW, Jay was pushed as a top guy and IWGP champ, where he had great promos and matches.
In AEW they are pushing Jay as the top guy in the group and having him challenge for the title but everyone says Juice is way more charismatic, entertaining and stealing the show while Jay has decent matches but really meandering promos.

Juice would have exposed MJF if MJF let him have a competitive match. I don't think Max have have a legit traditional american match like Juice. MJF is spot monkey whose managed to protect himself. He can't improv like actual pro wrestlers. Not that a lot of guys can in AEW or WWE.

Juice is long time veteran. And mjf is still relative green. Most of mjf matches were pre-aew. Its quite big issue with aew. They don't really develop their talent.
Guys like mjf end up having holes in their game.
