Tony Khan and the Elite “No more sports entertainment bullshit”

No.12176688 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Per SRS and Fightful:

>Tony Khan nixed a proposed segment on Rampage where Bullet Club Gold revealed a giant box which supposedly contained a “new Cardblade” only to have MJF come out of the box and attack BCG. The segment was produced by Jimmy Jacobs, who also did most of the MJF and Cole videos.
>Khan said the segment was “sports entertainment bullshit” and then had a meeting scheduled at Collision with all current producers, Kenny Omega, the Bucks, and Wil Washington. Khan was “fired up but very motivational” and said that he was going to start cutting anything that he deemed “sports entertainment bullshit”, arguing that too many segments recently had “started feeling like WWE”. He praised everyone involved for their work and creativity, but said it was time to “think outside the box instead of resorting back to old habits”.
>We’re told that Jimmy Jacobs took the brunt of the criticism but admitted that he had “run some shit into the ground” and blamed his creative run in WWE for instilling bad habits. Khan then praised him for the initial Cole and MJF segments, but criticized Adam Cole “making the onions face on a lawnmower” as having jumped the shark. We’re told there are no hard feelings and, in fact, Jacobs said he felt reinvigorated as a producer to try new things.
> The Bucks and Omega admitted that they had “taken a back seat” since the Brawl In incident but were ready to help out, with Omega jokingly saying he had just “watched all of Yu Yu Hakusho’s Dark Tournament Arc” for booking ideas
>Morale was extremely high after the meeting and we’re told that Saturday’s Collision, which received near universal praise, is what to expect going forward. Dynamite also appears to be a return to form with several major matches occurring and a focus on tightening things up before Full Gear.
