>>12210258>AEW has a gigantic roster and is paying indie guys who used to make $300 an appearance $80,0000 / yr or more. >Also renting huge arenas and running them at 15-20% capacity>Video game was a money pitThis is a good post. I feel like these are only the only things us on the outside can really point at and I agree.
It's just total insanity to me. Fine, you pay your main event crew what you have to and maybe a couple other people who you think will be stars. But the midcard guys shouldn't really be at much more than a low 6 figures and the opening card guys should basically be pay per appearance. The roster doesn't need to have more than 60 people total and the non-wrestling talent should be under 5-10 people.
Definitely agree that they need to run smaller arenas. TNA ran out of Universal Studios and NXT runs out of Full Sail and the ratings weren't affected. You can save tons of money easy that way.
The big things I would spend money on are the things they don't spend on - Signing a bunch of former pro and college athletes to developmental contracts and getting a couple of warehouse/hall sized places and using those as your main bases to run shows and train people. You find one star out of those rookies and they might pay for all of it single-handedly.
