USA has no other major content so they need WWE to boost their carriage fees from cable companies. If they bleed too many subs that would basically kill the channel.

The UFC deal is up at the end of next year. Overpaying for worthless WWE programming may help NBCUniversal land an actually valuable set of broadcast rights. Nick Khan was asked about this and gave a coy answer.

Affiliate fees, my homosexual friend. Boomers pay $100+ per month for cable/satellite. The cable/satellite companies pay out affiliate fees to cable networks and cable networks also generate revenue through advertising. Broadcast networks just have the single revenue source: advertising.

Anon, Fox is not the network it was. It sold off the vast majority of its holdings to Disney keeping its news and sports packages. It is looking to expand and concentrate on those two holdings. That means investing heavily in sports. They want the upcoming NBA package that will be up for grabs. They'd also like to invest in local sports teams at the college level and lower, holdings that once belonged to Sinclair Broadcasting for example. So they cut content that was going up in price and wheel positions itself as live sports broadcasting is not actually that. USA which is not in the running for any major sports packages and doesnt center itself around that, and has a long standing relationship with WWE was more than happy to secure more of that content.

USA spent less than FOX is currently spending, TKO wanted to higher deal than what they previously had while FOX wanted to go lower. USA comes in offers a little bit less than what FOX was currently giving them, but it's still more than what FOX was willing to spend on a new deal so this is how USA outbid FOX

its both reasons. WWE carnied FOX saying that they can get attitude era views and it disappointed FOX, then USA came in with a might higher offer than FOX anticipated when FOX thought they could lowball WWE. FOX is in mega cope mode since the program that objectively failed them ended up being picked up for more anyway

Well that's it then, free TV was literally the only reason I paid attention to WWE. Now that combined with them burying all their faces means I can just watch AEW from now on.
