The latest Tom / Alvarez show opened with someone telling Tom to do less jobs. Tom sank into depression and it got too real. He said he essentially knows as much about his NJPW contract as we do, he can't get real bookings in any country, he's 40 years old with no other career options and he's not breaking even financially. He said a lot of the issues started with AEW fucking with him over the Cole match.

Every time Alvarez tried to steer him towards kayfabe or fun he just shot it down.

Tom’s been fucked over a few times. UFC pulled that shit where they suspended him for two years and then cut him at the end of his suspension. There was also a time when he was scheduled for a fight, but another fighter didn’t want to share his cornerman, so he got Tom kicked off the card.

Yeah he seems cursed. The G1 stuff was nonsense. They put him in the all time worst block and gave him the all time worst jobber booking and he still got over every match and they still pretend he doesn't exist while Chase Owens and Tanga Loa get spots on every show.

He's not a perfect fit for gayew at all. His style is too brutal. He's like a much larger Low-ki, except he was a legit professional fighter and not just a midget larper like Ki. The more hardcore acts like this guy, Low Ki, Teddy Hart and hell even Jacob Fatu have a hard time getting booked anywhere because they're too brutal for the mainstream like WWE but are also too offensive for the gayew crowd. Fatu legit beats the shit out of random hecklers. That wouldn't fly at gayew at all considering what they did with Cm Punk who happens to have a little bit more testosterone than the average gayew wrestler.

the few times i've seen tom i think he's been really entertaining. i hope he can catch on somewhere.

i have no idea why isn't in njpw more regularly. he is way better than a lot of their guys. also he was a legit ufc fighter with legit ufc wins. that should mean a lot.

i honestly think he would be great in wwe with some adjustments to his style. i know he's getting old but i don't think he's sawdusted and he can still go. being old kind of works for a fighter gimmick.

hope tom catches on somewhere.

Pretty sure this whole Devil stable shit is perfect for him. In storyline he was "hired" by MJF to take out Cole or whatever, so can easily play off of that. Tom is a worker, and I'm pretty sure this whole depressed shit he's doing is because he knows he's going to be on AEW TV for a bit as part of this angle.
