>>12298762It's complicated. In 2003, ROH started doing shows in Maryland. They didn't have a license with the Maryland Athletic Commission to do shows, so they had to "borrow" the license and from local MD promoters and co-promote in order to do the show. Part of the agreement was ROH would continue the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup, which was a tournament in Maryland Championship Wrestling where 12 wrestlers would have singles matches to qualify to be in a 6 man elimination match to determine the winner of the SSMC.
Six months or so later in 2004, the whole Rob Feinstein pedophile scandal broke out, and the MD promoter pulled out of the show, and ROH relocated the show to Philadelphia, PA because they had no license to do shows in Maryland. It was renamed to Survival of the Fittest, which became a random tournament ROH did on and off throughout the years.
The fact that Tony is just doing a random six man elimination match and calling it "Surivival of the Fittest" proves he was never really an ROH fan and has no fucking clue what he's doing.
